Our Story

Our mission is to create user-friendly digital tools that make it easier for attorneys to present evidence and create a compelling story at trial. We want to equip every trial attorney with an accessible and helpful tool that not only helps them in their case management and trial preparation from day 1 but also allows them to present the case convincingly in court. Case Crafter was launched in Arendal, Norway in 2023 and has since grown to be a valuable case management tool that allows you to organize evidence and produce legal timelines for a streamlined trial presentation.

It started with an engaging timeline

The core of Case Crafter can be traced back to 2019 when our founder and CEO Tor Øyvind developed a timeline maker for educational purposes. The Timeline Creator enabled teachers to make history classes more engaging by visualizing historical turning points and defining moments throughout world history on a timeline. The user-friendly interface is still visible in the DNA of the Case Crafter software today.

From the classroom to the courtroom

Tor Øyvind was later contacted by trial attorney Stephen P. Haber, who had been using the Timeline Creator app in his court cases, and expressed the need for the same interface in his industry. This newly discovered demand from lawyers who wanted to present evidence on a timeline led to a pivot in 2021 when we launched the Timeline Presenter. This is a professional timeline maker for iOS and macOS, which makes organizing and presenting work more streamlined.

Rebrand to what Case Crafter is today

What started as a collaborative effort between Tor Øyvind and Stephen on the Timeline Presenter, turned into a close partnership based on insider industry knowledge and focused product development. In 2023, we built the Case Crafter software from scratch, which enabled us to make technical adjustments, like making it accessible for Windows users as well, and to improve several functionalities. Since then we have been focused on highlighting the sometimes neglected trial presentation component as an essential part of case management, something we see a clear demand for on the market today.

We are making the case for proper trial presentation

We are continuously improving the documentation and are focused on making the trial presentation even more focused, enabled by advanced and user-friendly functionalities. In this effort, we use our team’s diverse sets of skills and competencies proactively. Stephen provides industry insights that help us to hone in on what is most important to lawyers when presenting cases in court. Tor Øyvind brings this insight to life and is focused on making the software accessible, streamlined, and engaging to work with. Product designer Raphael Arêas helps to streamline this process by implementing user-friendly features in the interface, which is communicated intuitively by technical writer Becky Maudlin. In the process, we are making the case for why legal trial presentation is something every trial attorney can undertake without external help.
