About Case Crafter

Built with trial lawyers for trial lawyers

Case Crafter is a legal tech company focused on trial presentation and legal timeline software for trial attorneys in the United States and beyond. It grew out of a long running collaboration between software developer Tor Øyvind Fluør and New York trial lawyer Stephen P. Haber. With twenty years of experience building professional software and more than forty years in litigation between them, they share a single goal: making trial presentation and case storytelling clearer and more reliable for attorneys. From the beginning, Case Crafter has been shaped by real cases, real courtrooms, and the day-to-day work of trial teams. Tor leads the product and engineering side while Stephen brings the needs and constraints of actual trials, and together they set the direction for what we build and why.

Over the years Case Crafter has grown into a fully remote team of thirteen, with more than half based in the United States and the rest in Norway, Ukraine, and Brazil. We’re a diverse group in background and perspective, and we see that diversity as a strength when we design tools meant to support many different firms, practice areas, and ways of working.

How Case Crafter began

From education software to trial presentation tools

Before Case Crafter, Tor spent years building software for education. One of those projects was an iPad app for interactive timelines in the classroom, designed to help teachers and students turn complex topics into visual stories that were easier to follow. Stephen came across that timeline app while preparing his own trials. He realized that the same kind of visual storytelling that helped students could help jurors understand medical records and case events. In 2020, he reached out to Tor and asked whether there could be a professional version tailored for litigation, with support for full case files and courtroom use.

That email turned into a steady collaboration. Together they created Timeline Presenter, an Apple-only tool that let lawyers attach documents and media to events and present timelines in court.

It proved that the ideas worked, but it also exposed the limits of that generation: it ran only on Apple platforms, and using iCloud for collaboration made it difficult to add the kind of services law firms were asking for.

Case Crafter is the answer to those lessons. Instead of layering more features onto the old apps, Tor and Stephen decided to rebuild from the ground up as a multi-platform application. Case Crafter takes everything we learned from years of working on timelines and presentation and turns it into a single system that can grow with firms, support collaboration, and run on the devices trial lawyers actually use.

For our team, that moment was less about a trophy and more about who was in the room: practicing lawyers, legal technologists, and bar leaders who see a lot of products every year. Being invited onto that stage and then voted into the top spot told us that the problems we are working on, and the way we are approaching them, matter to the people we are building for.

Coverage in legal tech media and ABA channels following the event has helped more attorneys discover Case Crafter through independent writeups, interviews, and product overviews.
