About

Lexi R. Gedlaman is a freelance attorney who specializes in plaintiff-side personal injury and general civil litigation. As the owner of Cognito Legal Services, she provides freelance legal research, drafting, ghostwriting and civil litigation support for law firms that represent injured consumers and policyholders.

Expertise

Personal injury and automotive litigation
Lexi has represented clients in a wide range of personal injury matters involving automotive and trucking collisions, dog bites and premises liability, as well as bad faith breach of insurance contract claims. Her background at prominent plaintiff firms has given her experience with every stage of a case, from intake and investigation to negotiation and trial preparation.

Consumer protection and lemon law
Lexi also has experience working on consumer protection and lemon law cases arising from defective vehicles, auto fraud and collision matters. That work informs her commentary on legal content dealing with lemon law, deceptive sales practices and the rights of consumers, allowing her to flag common pitfalls and highlight practical strategies for consumers.

Legal research, drafting and ghostwriting
Through Cognito Legal Services, Lexi partners with trial lawyers to develop research backed pleadings, motions and briefs in complex civil cases. She is frequently engaged to provide behind the scenes drafting and litigation support, giving her a wide view of emerging arguments and trends in personal injury and consumer law across several states.

Civil litigation and advocacy for vulnerable clients
Earlier in her career, Lexi worked on cases involving child and adult sexual abuse, medical malpractice and premises liability and served as a student attorney handling civil protection orders, wage theft matters and court appointed guardian ad litem work. These experiences inform her careful, trauma informed approach to both client advocacy and legal content review.

Professional Journey

Lexi earned her J D from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she gained early courtroom experience as a judicial extern in the Denver District Court and as a student attorney in the Civil Litigation Clinic. She began her career in family law and trust and estate work before moving into plaintiff side personal injury practice.

She has since practiced at respected plaintiff firms including Denver Trial Lawyers, Zinda Law Group, Franklin D. Azar & Associates and The Bayas Firm, handling personal injury, auto collision, bad faith insurance, lemon law, and sexual abuse cases. Today, as the founder of Cognito Legal Services, she combines her trial background with a focus on legal research, drafting and freelance civil litigation support for firms across multiple jurisdictions.
