With forty years of commercial litigation practice, Lisa A. Frey is a seasoned trial lawyer and legal strategist who has tried and managed complex disputes in federal courts and in the state courts of New York and New Jersey. She has served as lead trial counsel in commercial cases, second chair in numerous federal and state jury and bench trials and has played key roles in high stakes arbitrations against billion-dollar companies.

Lisa advises law firms and litigation teams on how to position complex cases for trial—from framing claims and defenses to selecting and developing testimony and demonstrative evidence. She has served as lead trial counsel in commercial matters in New York, New Jersey, and in AIA arbitration, and has second chaired multiple federal and state trials in both jury and bench settings.

Over the course of her career, Lisa has worked on numerous significant cases in court and in arbitration, including matters resulting in multi-million-dollar awards. She was lead brief writer and legal strategist on an arbitration that produced a $75 million award for her client, underscoring her strength in combining factual development with sophisticated legal analysis.
Appellate and complex brief writing
Lisa is frequently retained by other lawyers to research and draft pretrial, trial, and appellate briefs. She has authored appellate briefs in both state and federal courts and argued before appellate panels in New York’s First and Second Departments. Lisa began her career in New York after earning her J.D. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, building a litigation practice that combined trial work, arbitration, and complex motion practice. Early on, she worked at Kelly & Roth in New York, handling litigation, entertainment law, and insurance coverage.
Over four decades, she has tried commercial cases in New York and New Jersey courts, served as lead strategist and brief writer in arbitrations, and developed a reputation for clear, persuasive written advocacy. Lisa has built a substantial role as a contract and of counsel attorney, where she focuses on litigation strategy in large commercial disputes and contract work for C-Suite executives.
