By default, all events are displayed on the timeline. You can apply filters so that only the events you want to display are displayed on the timeline. Filtering uses tags assigned to events.
Click Show Filters in the Timeline header to open the Filters window. You will see a list of tag groups and tags.
If you’ve saved any preset filters, they will be under the Filter Presets group. If you don’t have any preset filters, you will not see the Filter Presets group. See Save as preset.
Click Hide Filters in the timeline header to close the window. NOTE: Your filters are retained when you close the Filters window.
You can manage tags, apply filters, and save preset filters.
Tags
All tags are shown in the Filters window.
Open a group to view its tags.
The number across from the tag indicates how many events have the tag assigned to them.
You can add new tags or edit existing tags by clicking Edit tags at the bottom of the Filters window. See Manage Tags for details on adding and editing tags.
Apply filters
Filter the events that are shown on the timeline by selecting tags.
Select one or more tags. Only the events with the selected tags will be displayed on the timeline. NOTE: On a Mac you need to hold down the Option key to select more than one filter.
Selected tags are highlighted.
The number next to the group name indicates how many tags from the group have been selected as filters.
The number across from the tag name indicates how many events have that tag assigned to them.
The number of filters applied is displayed in the header of the Filters window as (# Selected).
The number on the Hide Filters/Show Filters button in the timeline header also indicates how many filters have been applied.
Click on a selected tag to deselect it. Click Clear Filters to clear all selections.
Save as preset
You can save a set of filters so you can easily apply them in the future.
Select tags, then click Save as preset at the bottom of the Filters window.
The New filter preset window opens. Enter a title and click Save.
The filters are saved and can be accessed in the Filter Presets group.
Open the Filter Presets group and select the preset filter you want applied to the timeline.
You can edit the title or delete a preset filter. Right-click the preset filter name, then select Edit or Delete.
