Open Case

Last updated on 21 Oct 2025

Cases are presented on the main page in the Recent files area.

There are several ways to open a case:

• Click on the case.
• Click the ellipses (three dots) on the case and select Open.
• Click the Open Case button in the header. Find the case folder in your files, open it, and open the Case Crafter Data File (casedatabase). For iPad, you will not open the Case Crafter Data File. You will select the case folder, then click Open.

The case is opened. You will see the case name in the header, along with two tabs, Files and Timeline. If you’ve already added files to a case, they will be displayed on the left side of the screen.

FAQ

  1. How can I open a case from the main page?
You can click directly on a listed case, select Open from the ellipses menu, or use the Open Case button in the header.
  2. What’s the difference between opening on a desktop and an iPad?
On a desktop, you open the casedatabase file inside the case folder. On iPad, you select the entire case folder instead of the file.
  3. Why doesn’t my case appear in Recent Files?
Cases only show in Recent Files after you open them at least once. If it’s missing, use Open Case to locate it manually.
  4. Can I open multiple cases at once?
No. Only one case can be active in Case Crafter at a time.
